Halo Engagement Ringsare a popular choice amongst both classic and modern brides - and it's for a good reason.

You will instantly recognize a halo ring by the selection of round pavé or micro pavé diamonds which encircles the center stone. The circle of smaller stones (which can also be faceted color gemstones) flash with light and focus attention back on the center stone to create a stunning sparkle.

You cannot stop looking at it. It draws you in.

What's more, the center stone can appear much larger in a halo setting and will make you feel like a queen. Trust me; you'll get tons of compliments every time you wear it.

As a future bride considering picking a halo engagement ring, you probably have a lot of questions about it. In this article, I compiled a few essential things which should answer at least some of them.

So let's get to it!

A Look at Your Many Customization Options

One of the first things you should know is there are lots of different types of halo settings to choose from, including:

  • Halo right around the diamond. This is perfect for delicate brides-to-be wholike a lot of sparkles - yet not too over the top.
  • Floating halo: In this case, the halo is set a little bit below the center diamond so the center stone appears even larger.
  • Double halo: The center stone is surrounded by not one but two halos for a full-on, glamorous effect.

You may see a ring and immediately fall in love with it. Exactly as it is.

However, if you like this style but want to make sure it's one of a kind, you can. There are endless ways to customize a halo ring so it 100% matches your style and vision.

Here, I'll give you a few examples just so you gain a better sense of the level of customization you can get for a halo engagement rings.

  • Metal Color: A white gold halo ring has that timeless elegance to it, while a subtle rose gold one is bound to appeal to romantic and feminine personalities. However, if you have a slightly vintage taste, you may want to go for a yellow gold one, as this color really emphasizes the vintage feel of the design.
  • Center Stone. You don't have to use a diamond as the center stone. A well-picked gemstone, such as a ruby or a yellow/white sapphire, can look breathtakingly-gorgeous in a halo setting.
  • Diamond Cut. If you want to stick with a diamond, but still want a ring which will stand out, you can customize the shape of it and choose something different than the classic princess or round cut. A halo will make just about any shape look interesting.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to making a halo ring your own. There are many other more customization opportunities you can leverage to design a ring which tells your unique story.

A Few Words on Care and Cleaning

With proper care, a halo engagement ring can last you a lifetime. That's great news, right?

One thing to remember, though, is all those little diamonds will require special attention, particularity if they are set on prongs.

A tip is to consider is getting a halo ring style that has a rim of metal which wraps around the little the diamonds to better protect them. This is called a bezel (see an example here) and is particularly useful if you have a very active lifestyle or work a lot with your hands.

As far as cleaning goes, my recommendation is to have it professionally cleaned by a jeweler a couple of times per year. At home, you can use a mixture of mild soap and warm water to remove any debris you may notice.
